Program awards fellowships and enhanced educational opportunities including faculty mentorship to Ph.D. students in Computer Science. Our specific goals are to use these GAANN fellowships to: a) aggressively recruit students from under-represented populations, particularly women, b) provide fellows with high-quality education and additional training in teaching techniques, and c) help each GAANN fellow to acquire independent research capability and to complete a high quality Ph.D. dissertation within 5 years. The fellowship provides need- based financial support of up to $30,000 per year. Additional financial support for research expenses (text books, supplies, computer hardware and software, and memberships etc.) and travel to attend conferences are also provided.
