David Jones has worked in physics education for 27 years. David spent 19 years in the MDCPS system and taught physics and AP Physics and AP Calculus at three different high schools in the Miami area. He earned “ Science Teacher of the Year” for MDCPS schools two times in his career and he earned a National Board of Teaching Standard Certification in 2000.
David is currently a physics instructor at FIU and the “Teacher in Residence” for the physics department. David also works with the outreach and teacher preparation programs here at FIU and he is the coordinator of the introductory laboratories and the Physics LA program.
David has worked with national physics programs during his career. As a high school teacher his students were involved with the AAPT US Physics team and in 2008 and 2009 David was one of the coaches for the team.
David is also very involved in the AP Physics program at the national level. He has spent 16 years as a reader and is currently in the AP reading leadership. David is an official College Board AP Physics Consultant and has delivered over twenty talks and workshops in that role. He has also been an invited speaker and workshop consultant for the AP National Convention in 2010 and 2014.
He is currently a member of the ETS Development Committee for the College Board AP Physics C course. This committee sets the standards for the course and designs the exams for ETS.
