Alex is a postdoctoral researcher with a joint appointment in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the STEM Transformation Institute. Alex received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from University of Minnesota, Morris as well as a 9-12 teaching license for chemistry. She then attended graduate school at Purdue University and received a PhD in Chemical Education studying the relationship between pedagogical content knowledge, teacher practice, and student learning gains in high school STEM teachers’ classrooms. At FIU, Alex is working with Dr. Sonia Underwood to assess the impacts of curriculum transformation. She is interested in how innovative curricula can impact students as well as instructors.
